Payroll journals

Every pay run in the books, by location.

  • Each payroll split across your locations and posted to your chart of accounts.
  • Month-end accruals included, and a check that every run is in the books once.
  • Split by where people worked
  • Every run, booked once
  • Quoted once we've seen your systems

What it does

Payroll in the books the way your accountant would book it.

Split by location

Wages split by the hours each person worked at each location, with a rule you approve for anyone without punches.

Mapped to your accounts

Each earning, tax and deduction mapped once to your chart of accounts, then booked the same way every run.

Month-end accruals

Wages earned but not yet paid at month end, booked and reversed the next month.

Every run, once

Before close, a check that every pay run is in the books and none is in twice.

Ties to payroll

Totals tie to the payroll register, and any gap is flagged before close.

Posted after sign-off

Entries posted to your accounting system, or held for your accountant's sign-off before posting.

How it works

Mapped once, then every pay run.

Connect

Your payroll and accounting systems, and timekeeping for the split by location.

Map it

We map each pay item to your accounts with your accountant, then run it next to your current process until the books match.

Every run

Each pay run is booked as it is paid, with accruals at month end, before you close.

Labor by location flows into your monthly reporting package. Add the pay run check to check each run first.

Questions

Which systems does it work with?

Payroll from ADP, Gusto, Paychex and Rippling or another payroll system. Books in QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or any other accounting system. We connect through each system's API where it has one, and from exports where it doesn't.

What about people who work at more than one location?

Their pay is split by the hours they clocked at each one. Salaried staff follow a split you set.

Does our accountant still review it?

If you want. Entries can be held for your accountant's sign-off before posting, and every line traces back to the payroll register.

How is this different from operations automation?

It is one of the workflows on our operations automation page, now set up the same way for every client.

What does it cost?

A setup fee, then a monthly fee, quoted once we've seen your payroll and accounting systems.
